Ultimate Breakfast

Ultimate Breakfast

The service was a little slow though…took quite a while for them to realise that they have not taken our orders.   SInce it is my birthday, I had the Ultimate breakfast! It was huge…and very yummy…

SW said that there was a branded watch sale at Suntec City, so decided to go and check it out!

When we got there, there was no signs of any branded sales, just some health talks and seminars…use my mobile to surf the internet to check if SW has got the wrong information.  There was no such event listed!  We were a little disappointed.  SW then decided to do Internet check-in for her flight to Korea using my mobile and it was so cool!  We even manage to see the plane layout to choose her seat!

Went for the 5pm church service and got plenty of well wishes..happy! *_*

After service, 4 cars and 12 people headed for Suntec City (again!) for dinner.

Party of 12 had dinner at Pho House.  Had a totally crazy time confusing the waitresses..one of them was only 15 years old!

After dinner, 8 of us trooped to Kbox @ Suntec for KTV session! (My fav!)

Since I am a member, we got 20% off the bill before taxes, a birthday cake, a mystery gift (some gift vouchers), party packs (clappers, poppers, masks, etc), and some decorations (a few black balloons!) hahahahaha….

Am I still in Singapore?

As usual, Melissa has done her best yet for our brunch today. We decided to go to The Aramsa Spas located in Bishan Park. It is so close to home and I cannot believe that I have to wait for Melissa who lives in the West to suggest that place. I have heard of a spa in the middle of Bishan Park and just never got down to visiting it.

We went at about 11am (I reached there at 11.20am) to meet at the Canopy – Garden Dining.

It is such a beautiful place and with the nice cooling weather, it is absolutely beautiful for a perfect day for al fresco. It doesn’t feel like Singapore…at all…

Geri’s Roast Chicken

Suddenly decided to do a roast today. I spend some time having breakfast at Cafe Cartel in Serangoon Garden (reading newspapers). Then, I was off to the supermarket. The prices of stuff have really gone up…pick a few things and out goes S$20!

Marinate for my roast chicken (no measurement, I like to go by feel-ing)

* 5 spices powder
* Chilli powder
* Garlic powder
* Chinese wine
* Sesame oil
* Dark Soya sauce
* Salt
* Olive oil

Mix them together to form a paste. Spread generously under the skin of the chicken (this way, the chicken will absorb better) and the remaining paste for the whole chicken. Set the chicken aside in the fridge for a few hours.

Heat up oven to 180 degrees Celsius.

Spread the base of the baking pan with chopped onion, garlic & olive oil. In goes the chicken. Surround the chicken with new potato and carrots. Add in a cup of water.

Pop the tray into the preheated oven.

One and a half hour later….dinner is ready….

Gravy can be made from the liquid in tray. Bring to a boil, add in celery, bay leaves, salt, chilli. Mix cornflour with water to thicken gravy.

Food tasting

Sue remarked that she have not tasted my cooking for a while…to the exact…4 years…

But, too bad…you live a bit the far away…

No worries…will have chance…

I went to Taipei last December and bought 2 cooking books (which I have yet to try the recipes):

1) 开家赚钱的中式早餐店 (Start a business selling Chinese style breakfast)
2) 笫一次摆摊卖小吃 – 三万元创业赚大钱 (Make profit selling Taiwanese snacks with NT$30,000 (abt S$1,500)

Then in January, I bought a book, 中药材食疗事典 (Use of Chinese Medical Herbs in cooking), from 上海书城.

Will be testing the recipes soon…

Sue, when are you coming? :p

Looking Greek

For our regular breakfast session, I met Melissa at Ricciotti at The Riverwalk. It is just so good to just chill and catch up. Melissa had eggs Florentine and I had Sunny side up eggs with Italian sausage. We shared a basket of Ricciotti ‘s signature bread roll and Tiramisu.

After breakfast, we walked to the National Museum of Singapore for Greek Masterpieces from the Louvre. Learn a lot about the ancient Greek civilization and also realized that words like “Nike” is not just an American sports brand. Many of present day’s English are derived from Greek. Just so much to absorb. I imagine that one day when I get the chance to go to Europe, I would be so excited to spend all day in THE LOUVRE!

My favorite statue is the naked sportsman getting ready to throw the disc. The mood, tension captured and cast in stone was very captivating. Too bad, I did not take a good picture for that one, so you got to get yourself to the museum to see it for yourself.
